Quality Sheds on Sunshine Coast.

Just Sheds designs and builds high-quality sheds across the Sunshine Coast, delivering custom-built solutions for residential, rural, agricultural and commercial properties. From garages and carports through to large farm sheds and industrial buildings, every structure is designed to suit your space, usage requirements and local conditions.

With extensive experience building sheds throughout the Sunshine Coast, we understand local council requirements, wind ratings and site considerations unique to the region. Properties closer to the coast often require higher wind-rated structures to withstand severe weather conditions, while hinterland and acreage sites may involve unique terrain, access considerations and drainage needs.

Council approval requirements on the Sunshine Coast can also vary depending on shed size, location and intended use, so ensuring your project meets local planning and building codes is essential.

Our sheds are engineered for durability and performance, using quality steel materials and flexible design options to suit coastal, hinterland and rural environments.

If you’re looking for reliable shed builders on the Sunshine Coast, Just Sheds provides expert advice, practical designs and a wide range of shed options to suit homes, farms and businesses of all sizes.

Our Shed Range on the Sunshine Coast

We offer a complete range of custom sheds on the Sunshine Coast, designed to suit residential, rural and commercial applications. Every shed can be tailored in size, layout and features to ensure it meets your specific needs.

Our custom sheds are designed for flexibility, making them suitable for residential storage, rural properties and industrial applications. Whether you need a compact backyard shed or a large multi-bay structure, we design each shed around how you plan to use it.

Options include open bays, fully enclosed bays and divider walls to separate storage areas or workspaces. Shed sizes, roof styles and access points can all be customised, allowing you to create a practical layout that works for your site and usage.

Just Sheds designs and builds single and double garages designed to protect vehicles, equipment and valuables. Our garages can be adjusted in width, height, length and roof pitch to suit everything from standard cars to four-wheel drives, boats and trailers.

Each garage is designed to integrate with existing buildings, whether it’s attached to your home or positioned as a standalone structure. Roller doors, personal access doors and window options can be added to improve access and functionality.

Carports & Garaports

Carports and garaports offer practical vehicle protection for homes and businesses across the Sunshine Coast. These structures provide shelter from sun, rain and coastal conditions without fully enclosing the space.

We design carports in custom sizes and layouts, with options to match existing garages or sheds for a cohesive look. Garaports combine the benefits of both, offering partial enclosure with open access for easy vehicle use.

Our agricultural farm sheds are built to support the demands of rural Sunshine Coast properties. These sheds are ideal for machinery storage, equipment protection, stables and general farm use.

We offer both open and enclosed bay designs, allowing airflow where needed while still providing protection from the elements. Each farm shed is engineered for strength, with layouts designed to accommodate large machinery and day-to-day agricultural operations.

American barn sheds are a popular choice for multi-use applications, including garages, workshops and stables. These designs feature high clearance, wide access and generous internal space.

The classic barn-style appearance is paired with modern steel construction, delivering both visual appeal and reliable performance. American barns can be customised with internal bays, lean-tos and access points to suit a range of property types.

Just Sheds designs and builds industrial and commercial sheds for businesses requiring large, open internal spaces. With clear spans available up to 35 metres, these sheds are suitable for warehousing, manufacturing, storage and operational facilities.

Our commercial sheds are engineered for heavy-duty use, with structural designs focused on long-term durability. Layouts, access points and roof profiles are customised to support business operations and future growth.

Workshop sheds are ideal for tradies, hobbyists and DIY use. These sheds provide a dedicated space for tools, equipment and hands-on projects.

We offer flexible interior layouts, with options for ventilation, shelving, workbenches and lighting access. Workshop sheds can be designed as standalone buildings or combined with storage bays for added versatility.

Our steel awnings provide protection for patios, verandahs and outdoor areas across residential and commercial properties. Awnings are custom-designed to suit Sunshine Coast conditions, offering shade and weather protection while maintaining airflow.

They can be integrated with existing structures or installed as standalone additions, making them a practical option for extending usable outdoor space.

Built for Sunshine Coast Conditions

Every shed we build is engineered to the wind rating for its exact site, not a one-size-fits-all spec. Wind ratings come from Australian Standard AS 4055, which grades non-cyclonic areas like the Sunshine Coast from N1 (most sheltered) to N6 (most exposed).

  • N2: typical for flat suburban blocks surrounded by houses and established trees that break the wind. Designed for gusts of about 144 km/h.
  • N3: common on more open blocks, such as newer estates with few trees, acreage with open paddocks, or homes close to the beach. Designed for gusts of about 180 km/h.
  • N4 and above: exposed sites like beachfront blocks facing the open ocean, and ridgelines or hilltops in the hinterland around Maleny, Montville and Flaxton. N4 is designed for gusts of about 220 km/h and N5 for about 266 km/h.

Three things push a rating up: how open the surrounding land is, how much shelter nearby buildings and trees give, and whether the shed sits on a hill or ridge. That means two blocks in the same street can have different ratings.

A higher rating means a heavier frame, more roof and wall purlins, stronger roller doors and bigger footings, which is why wind is one of the biggest factors in price. We confirm your site's rating during engineering and build with BlueScope steel suited to coastal conditions.

Sunshine Coast Council Approvals: What You Need to Know

Most sheds on the Sunshine Coast need some form of approval, so it pays to know where your project sits before you start.

  • No approval needed: under Queensland's Building Regulation, a shed only skips building approval if it is no more than 10m² in floor area, has no side longer than 5m, is no more than 2.4m high (with a mean height of 2.1m or less), meets boundary setbacks, sits outside any easement and doesn't affect retaining walls, stormwater or sewer lines.
  • Building approval: anything bigger, which includes most garages, workshops and farm sheds, needs building approval from a private building certifier before work starts. The certifier checks the engineering, wind rating and siting, then inspects the build.
  • Council assessment: in residential zones, council's Dwelling House Code expects a domestic shed to be no more than 3.6m high and 56m² in total floor area, and at least 6m from the road frontage. If your shed goes past these limits, sits inside the side or rear setbacks, or your block has an overlay such as flooding or bushfire, council needs to assess it first, through a referral from your certifier or, in some cases, a development application. Farm and business sheds are assessed under different rules again.
  • Setback basics: on most residential blocks of 450m² or more, sheds need to sit at least 6m from the road boundary and 1.5m from side and rear boundaries. A shed can sometimes go closer to a side or rear boundary if the total length of buildings within that setback is under 9m. Lots under 450m² and rural blocks have their own setback rules.

We handle the approval process for you. As part of our full build service, we prepare the site-specific drawings and engineering and lodge the application, so you deal with one QBCC-licensed builder from start to finish.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does a custom shed cost on the Sunshine Coast?

Price depends mainly on the size and height of the shed, your site's wind rating, the number and type of doors, and whether you choose our full build service or a DIY kit. Engineering, approvals, the slab and any site works also affect the total. We provide a free, itemised quote after talking through your plans, so you know exactly what's included before you commit.

  • Do I need council approval to build a shed on the Sunshine Coast?

Most do. A shed only skips building approval if it is no more than 10m², no more than 2.4m high, has no side longer than 5m and meets boundary setbacks. Anything larger needs approval from a private certifier, and in residential zones council also needs to assess sheds over 3.6m high or 56m², sheds inside the setbacks and blocks with overlays. We prepare the drawings and engineering and lodge the application for you.

  • What shed materials work best in coastal Queensland conditions?

BlueScope steel is a strong choice for coastal Queensland, combining structural strength with corrosion resistance in salty, humid air. We build with BlueScope steel, which comes with a 15-year warranty from the date of installation. Your shed is also engineered to your site's wind rating, which matters most on exposed coastal and ridge-top blocks.

  • Do you build farm sheds and rural sheds across the Sunshine Coast hinterland?

Yes. We design and build farm and rural sheds across the Sunshine Coast hinterland, from machinery sheds to large clear-span buildings with spans of up to 35 metres. Hinterland blocks often need higher wind ratings on ridges and hilltops, plus planning for access and drainage, which we factor into the design. Sheds used for a farming operation are assessed differently to domestic sheds, and we'll guide you through the approval path.

  • Can I visit a Just Sheds showroom on the Sunshine Coast?

Yes. Our Sunshine Coast showroom is at Unit 3/1 Kerryl St, Kunda Park, where you can explore designs in person and talk through your plans with our team. Call 07 5445 8532 before you visit to make sure someone is available to help.
