How To Maximise Your Shed Storage

If you have a garden on your property, then it’s pretty safe to assume that you also have a shed of some kind. Whether that shed is a large, spacious area or a small, cramped place, the truth is that in order to get the best out of it, you need to be on top of how you organise it. It might not be a room inside your house, but it is still a place that holds some important household items and tools! Here at Just Sheds, we are interested in helping people to get the most out of their sheds, so with this in mind, here are some top tips for how to best organise yours to make it the best it can be!

Open Shelving

Floating shelves can be a real life safer for a shed space. Having the ability to put items up on the walls, without having a shelving system that has to carry on down to the floor and take up more valuable space is really essential. Invest in a couple of sturdy floating shelves and you will be amazed by the amount of floor space that becomes available to you.

Effective Shelving

If you have an old bookshelf kicking around in your house that can be repurposed, take it down to the shed and install it in there for some really effective shelving. Bookshelves provide the perfect kind of size for things like hand tools and old plant pots that need a temporary home whilst they are out of action.

Keep Tools in Plastic Tubs

Try not to just throw things into the shed without any kind of order or structure. For small things like tools and ‘odd bits’, buy a bunch of plastic tubs so that you can have some sort of organisation between items. You don’t want to have sift through a dusty draw to differentiate between screwdrivers and balls of string, separate them out in their respective tubs and you will find things much quicker!

A few more ideas:

  1. Use a Magnetic Bar for Your Tools.
  2. Hang a Pegboard for Tool Storage.
  3. Use Hanging Jar Organizers.
  4. Contain Chemicals with Storage Boxes.
  5. Hang Garden Tools on the Exterior.
  6. Use Free-Standing Metal Shelving
